hanging on

last week, i went home and paid my fam a short visit. it was fine, i was able to hug and kiss granny who felt so happy seeing me. i love her,... yeah i do, she raised me, she in fact was the one who rally took care of me since i was born to the very day i applied for a job HERE. yes, there were times when we had some misunderstanding but that's nothing compared to the times when we had good laughs and moments of affection.i remember her, waking up at 2 am or early dawn just to make me take my paracetamol ( i am very sickly)
now, "lola" is ill, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and her lower body is numb due to her broken spinal column. she, by the way, is 87 years old, she looks very old... her used to be dyed hair has turned into a 100% white thread on head. she is still in the ICU as this post is written, my mother is taking care of the things there with my brothers and sisters, and of course my aunt. i was there till Wednesday last week, but i had to go back to work. i would love to file for a leave from work just to be with her but it is nice that her condition is improving... i might just come and visit her maybe next weekend. she is hanging on... that made me admire her strength... just like her, i wish to be a strong woman too. that no matter what the odds may bring, i can stand on my feet and prove it to the world that i am a strong woman, JUST LIKE LOLA.

i hope she gets better sooner.

all for now.

creative....

Your Best Trait is Creativity

You may seem like you're a bit flaky or flighty, but you're really just deep in thought.

You are the artistic type, no doubt. However, you are also highly analytical and logical.

You are able to solve problems in unique and interesting ways. Your ideas are unpredictable, but they always end up making sense.

You are picky and sometimes downright critical. You expect the best of yourself, but others are not prepared for your exacting standards.

What i had was nothing...

The last 2 weeks were the not so nice weeks for our country. 2 strong typhoons smashed some areas in luzon including NCR, leaving the country with hundred of dead bodies and millions or even billions of infrastructure losses. As i watched the coverage of the local tv networks, i cant help but feel the pain my of countrymen,my heart cried for them not my eyes. In as much as i want to help all i can do is pray for them, that they will not loose their faith, that, after all of these there will be a rainbow. For that, i believe this is nature's way of showing us that we are irresponsible.. Yes we need innovation but we must become more responsible too, right? well... it is never too late, i hope..
In my life, the past 2 weeks or so were the not so nice weeks too. I felt too much sadness and yeah.... depression. but!!!! i am okay now, my rainbow has come and made me smile. Compared to those who were devastated by the typhoons, what i had was nothing, that is why i am so grateful for the FAITH He bestowed me with. i am hanging on.. this too, (just like the hundreds of worries i had encountered)shall pass.

all for now.

happy 16th

16 months ago, my life became as colorful as it is right now, thanks to HIM who needs not to be named for making my life a wonderful experience. I just hope, (we are praying still) that the big V will be given soon.
Happy 16th month to us!!!! :D thank you so sooo much for giving me peace of mind every time i have tantrums. :D i love you so much!!!

Last october 8, i received a phone call telling me that i qualified for an interview for a certain Call Center in MManila. I was so eager to come an be interviewed and at least find out whether i will make it in a call center (just like HIM) but, sadly, i am not ready to leave yet... so many things need my attention here, different issues pop up almost everyday. i then decided (with HIS help) not to show for the interview, so i respectfully told the recruiter that i cannot come. it's not the right time YET.. i hope this experience has made me mature a bit :D

i pity her...

just tonight when i arrived from work, my landlady's help was so quiet.. she busied herself with the "task" she was told to. i know at times she misses her family, i know how it feels, she made me feel how blessed i am, for not becoming like her... i never had to work as a house help just to earn money. anyways, when LL came home, she was so soo mad, her voice was in a not so nice tone, telling the "help" that she was badly needed at school but she cannot be contacted. I know that LL lent her old cphone to the girl for contacting purposes, but unfortunately, the battery of the cphone was broken, making the girl out of reach. i was just listening, i didn't utter any word. the truth is, i wish i could just speak and explain to LL what happened. the girl did not manage to talk, tears were just flowing on her face as she was preparing her boss' dinner. I really wish i could tap her shoulder and tell her, it's alright, you know, it happens. but i do not wish to interfere. it's out of my business. tomorrow, maybe, i can talk with the girl, like an older sister. and maybe, bid her goodbye for she was told to find another place to stay.... if only i tell why i pity her.... the girl did nothing wrong.. i wish i could really tell. it's another story. :D

too tired... started writing my pupil's 2nd grading grade (initial... periodical test is just around the corner!!!

all for now

a fruitful saturday

i woke up today with a fear that it'll rain the whole day. the heavy rainfall last night made me oversleep and "lazy". %-)
i hurriedly prepared myself for my appointment. Today, our school conducted a general cleaning day in preparation for the contest "best brigada eskwela implementer" parents and pupils were there to assist us(teachers) in keeping our school clean. i just hope this will be maintained. i forgot to bring my cam so no pictures were taken to be published. hehe in other words, no sideline business for me. hehehe

all for now, am so tired and sleepy. time for me to napnap now.

my sample lesson plan

i have been writing THIS since college, we were taught how to prepare a lesson plan as tool for our imparting of knowledge. As a teacher (for me) one can teach even without it, i can teach even without my lesson plan provided i have a book, and i am around :D. In one school (the one where i studied, where my older sister teaches) teachers don't make use of lesson plans. They make use of their syllabus which is easier to prepare and can be used at least 2 years before it can be revised.they don't have to stay awake every night to write their next lesson, all they do is turn to the syllabus. plus, teaching materials are provided by the school unlike us, it is provided by US from our own pocket.

Public School Teachers (PST) UNFORTUNATELY, we have to prepare our lesson plan DAILY plus, it has to be different from last year's. SIGH!!!
it takes time to prepare one lesson plan, really. I make my lesson plan at least 1hour 30 minutes this is to really make learning worthwhile, and i use this for less than 40 minutes. i tell you, sometimes we only use this for 20 minutes or so.
Anyways, i hope one day, when a new SECRETARY will be appointed, or a new Schools Division Superintendent will come, something may be done with this matter. (crossing fingers)

here is a sample lesson i prepared (math grade V which is taught for 60 minutes)this is semi detailed. i hope you will understand how hard it is to prepare this everyday for 10 months. and take note, i am teaching 2 subjects plus character education. %-)

I. (objectives)
1. Rename dissimilar fractions to similar fractions;
2. Write the equivalent similar fractions of given dissimilar fractions;
3. Participate actively in class activities.

II. (lesson)
Renaming Dissimilar Fractions to Similar Fractions
BEC-PELC (source of objectives)
fraction cards, charts, small box, strips of paper, bond paper(materials)

III. Procedure (this is where we can see what will happen as the lesson is presented)

1. Free Communication (includes prayer, song, greeting etc.)
2. Drill
>identifying the Least Common Multiple (LCM) of set of numbers (flash cards)
> the pupils shall be grouped by 5's and each group shall receive a show me board. As the teacher flashes the card, the timer shall start for 15 seconds, while the pupils shall write the LCM on the show me board.
> supervised checking, the group with the ,most correct answer will earn points.
3. Review
> ask about past discussion on fractions. (what is a fraction, how is it written, when can we say that a set of fraction is similar and dissimilar?)
> show fraction cards, have them identify if the fractions on it are similar or dissimilar.
4. Checking of Assigement
> did I give you an assignment? okay let us check it.

5. Motivations
> Integrate the lesson in Science (mothers and their young)
> on a piece of bond paper are pictures of mother and child pair, with them are fractions, like (DUCK, 3/4, 2/3) (DUCKLING 9/12 8/12) ask, did the animals change?? yes, from being baby it became old, and the fractions did it change? (yes, the fractions changed in appearance)
6. Presentation
> have the class read the day's goal: rename dissimilar fractions to similar fractions.
7. Analysis/Discussion
> ask, how did it happen? why did 3/4, 2/3 become 9/12 8/12??
> post an illustration of the steps showing the process, have them observe the process, after about 1 minute, have someone explain the process. (guide the pupil)
> give positive affirmation if the pupil was able to explain it.
> group the pupils into 7 groups provide them with bond paper and markers (you may ask them in advance to bring their pens) have each group select the leader and let him/her draw their problem from the small box, from the strips of paper, let them give the equivalent similar fractions of the given dissimilar fraction, let them base their solution from the given example on the board. (time: 3-5minutes)
>check their work after they have presented it on a bond paper on the board.
> say, the boat is sinking... group yourselves by 6's
> on a table are fractions cards (the equivalent similar fractions of which will be given to each group) they are to find (the equivalent similar fraction from the table. (time: 5 minutes)
> check the work. ask, how were they able to identify right away? did they solve?
8. Generalization:
> ask the class, what do we do if we rename dissimilar fractions to similar fractions?
9. Application
> write the following as similar fractions
1. 4/5, 2/4 2. 2/9 1/3 3. 3/6 1/2 4. 2/3 1/4 1/8

IV. (Evaluation)
> Rename the following fractions as similar.
1. 2/5 3/7 2. 1/4 4/8 3. 3/15 4/5 4. 1/8 2/3 1/6

V (Assignemnt)
> it can be a follow up or an advanced study for the next lesson depending on the (LOP) Level of Performance at least 75% of the class got 75% of the quiz. :D

there, i know i am not a perfect teacher, but that's how i taught that lesson.
if you have any suggestions to improve my teaching, please inform me by leaving a comment. :D

eHow.... teach me.

i love to read... this makes me learn new and more ideas about anything. These ideas if suitable for my pupils will surely be imparted if not then with some friends off/online. :D
the following ideas might not be applicable "yet" for my pupils but i am 100% sure my best friend will benefit from this.
I have been in a wonderful relationship THAT'S NO QUESTION!! but at times yes, i too fell like we're not getting anywhere... so i looked for self help article/s that will help me in my agony. haha

i found a nice SITE that might help in our queries about almost anything.. it is where i got my "tool" to make OUR "going strong" relationship even stronger..

i think "we" have done steps 1 - 3 and the question is.. WHEN are we going to make steps 4 & 5 HAPPEN??? hays. it has been planned not once but twice, and yet it is still held for i don't know what reason.

My bessy is also sharing the same story with me, her's is also a long distance one
and as faithful women, we pray for each others' sweet happiness. well...
THY will be done. amen!!

i am stressed... but NO WORRIES

it has been 4 months since the school year kicked off, and i have been dealing with 146 pupils everyday. (48 pupils in my classroom, 50 from another section, and 48 in another)this, and some reports especially the daily lesson planning have caused me so much stress. plus, there are some personal issues that i have to deal with, hays.. as i was looking for self help articles, i found this TOP TEN STEPS TO DeStress. and i just cannot complete it, one step that i cannot do is step number 10.When you acknowledge and satisfy your needs, you will be free to focus on other areas of your life.the most important of all, to meet my NEED. and that need is as of now, UNAVAILABLE. hays.
my faith is keeping me alive or should i say, keeping me energized. I will not stop believing that one day, someday, things will come to places as God wants it to be. "hakuna matata" this phrase is form the movie The Lion King, (just not sure with the spelling) which means, NO WORRIES.
to sum it up, if you want to be happier and more successful, focus on the things you have the power to control.
